My sister and I wanted to sleep out one
night, under the stars, on the roof, and without any tent; just a couple of
thin mattresses, sheets and pillows. I particularly wanted to experience the
sounds of the night around our house and feel the coldness of these days.
Sushi, our dog ended up going upstairs and
keeping us accompanied the whole night. It was a night with no moon at the
beginning, we were unable to see the sky because of the clouds and we were
thinking that rain was going to make us get back inside before 12:00; in spite
of it we organized our sleeping nest and went to bed.
Although the idea of sleeping under the
stars is attracting and beautiful, I was a little scared. Thinking about the
animals I could see or feel, kept me awake for almost an hour, and when I
finally fell asleep it took me just 2 more hours to be conscious again; I
repeated this process many times during intervals of 1 and 2 hours.
This night (taking into account my previous
knowledge) I could realize that nocturnal animals have their own time to be
acknowledged; so, considering it I can say that toads appear during the early
night, rodents prefer midnight and roosters and other kind of birds start
singing a couple of hours before sunrise. Crickets were the only ones which
presence I felt all the way, they refused to stop singing.
Around 2 o´clock, I could see the moon; it
was reflecting its light just above us since there were no more clouds in
sight, and cold made my sheet feel humid to my touch as if a light drizzle
had started and we didn´t notice it.
